If you’re like me, you love to read. Reading is an escape, an opportunity to visit another place, another time, and get lost with a character – some new, some old. What if classic novels were brought to life through creative artistry and provided within an app that boasts that more than 400 million of the 1 billion users stop scrolling long enough to explore curated stories of individual accounts?
A new experiment from the New York Public Library is adapting novels for the social media age – specifically through Instagram and their stories. Enter Insta Novels. As standard e-book sales have declined in recent years, publishers have had to find ways to meet readers where they are: social media. Instead of just looking at photos of cats and food, the Insta Novel is a gateway where infrequent readers can lose themselves, and then perhaps find a renewed love of reading on the other side.
