As someone who’s often out and about in Oklahoma City, I’ve seen firsthand how our urban landscape is evolving. One of the most exciting developments in recent years has been the OKC Streetcar. This isn’t just a mode of transportation; it’s a symbol of our city’s growth, sustainability, and commitment to community connectivity. Our creative team contributed to this project by designing a streetcar wrap for Visit OKC and capturing it in action for some of their promotional spots. But let’s talk about why I think the streetcar is one of the best things to happen for OKC.
The Lowdown
The OKC Streetcar makes getting around downtown super easy. With two primary loops—the Downtown Loop and the Bricktown Loop—the streetcar connects key destinations like Scissortail Park, Myriad Botanical Gardens, and the Bricktown Entertainment District. It’s affordable too, with a ride costing just $1 for a single trip, or $3 for an all-day pass. Pro tip: If you park in one of EMBARK’s four downtown garages, your parking receipt doubles as a ticket for two to ride free for 24 hours. It’s a perfect way to explore the city without worrying about parking at each stop.

Sustainable Travel
Public transportation isn’t just practical; it’s essential for our environment. Nationally, public transit cuts carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons annually, according to the American Public Transportation Association. Here in OKC, every mile on the streetcar reduces personal carbon emissions by nearly 85%. Fewer car usage means less traffic and a greener city. Wins all around.
Economic Growth
Cities with streetcar systems see major economic boosts. Take Cincinnati, for example. After launching their streetcar, the city saw $192 million in new development within the first year. It would be nice to see some of that magic here and see the OKC Streetcar route expand, with new developments sprouting up along the route. The streetcar has the potential to create jobs, boost tourism, and drive our local economy forward.
Connecting Community
But perhaps the most exciting thing about the OKC Streetcar is how it’s connecting people. It’s making our city feel more accessible and more navigable. Whether you’re a local or a visitor discovering OKC for the first time, the streetcar offers a unique way to explore our city. At Jordan, we’re proud to have played a role in its visual identity, but the real impact is in how it’s bringing people together at every stop.
Hop On
The Streetcar isn’t just a transit system—it’s a glimpse of where we’re headed as a city—toward a more sustainable, economically vibrant, and connected community. Since its launch in 2018, it’s been a game-changer, stitching together key parts of our city in a way that’s convenient, accessible, and fun to use. So, next time you’re downtown, hop on and experience OKC in a new way.
