We like to shine a spotlight on the places, people, and events that make our community special especially when they infuse creativity at a peak level. Creativity is one of our favorite things to celebrate! This month, we’re highlighting a hidden bar in OKC’s Plaza District: Good For A Few.

One of the standouts of Good For A Few is their thoughtfulness and attention to detail from their concept to their drinks. It’s a bar that’s perfect—or should I say, good for a few drinks and intimate conversations with friends and loved ones. This speakeasy-style bar serves a variety of classic cocktails and signature drinks. The drink menu is complemented by a selection of snacks that pair perfectly with their thoughtfully crafted drinks. From their “Most Memorable Dip,” Salsa Di Parm served with crostini, to onion-fried burgers, french fries, and donut holes, there’s something to satisfy every craving. When you visit, there’s a good reason you’ll want to stay until midnight.

Behind the Velvet Curtain

Step through the main door, and you’ll find yourself in what appears to be a bookshop. But the magic of Good For A Few lies behind the bookshelves and a velvet curtain. As you walk through, it feels like you’ve been transported just like in the speakeasy scene from The Great Gatsby. The hidden entrance creates mystery while the dim lighting sets the mood for cozy conversations.

Once inside, your eyes will immediately be drawn to the eclectic decor. The walls are painted a warm yellow and adorned with playful murals of sneakers, books, and puppies by local artist Lindsay Zodrow. This whimsical art gives the space a youthful vibe, yet the green shiny tiles, marble bartop, and wooden arch-shelves carved into the wall and holding bottles of alcohol add a sophisticated touch. The long brick wall gives it a lived-in charm. The pièce de résistance is a singular Nike Air Jordan 1 sneaker in the Chicago Bulls’ colors from 1985, hanging from a lamp behind the bar—a nod to both nostalgia and style.

Their attention to detail goes as far as the attire of their bartenders. Local designer Elyjah Monks created custom-made Noragi jackets for their staff. A Noragi is a traditional Japanese garment, similar to a kimono, known for its comfort and ease of movement. This thoughtful choice not only ensures the comfort of the staff but also adds to the unique aesthetic of the bar.

I Got a Charlie Horse

Good For A Few isn’t just about the atmosphere; it’s also a haven for cocktail enthusiasts. My personal favorite is their version of Mexico’s popular Carajillo. The Carajillo has been gaining popularity, especially in cities like Houston and Los Angeles, thanks to the Espresso Martini craze and the influence of Mexican culture. The Spanish language has a word for lingering over drinks and conversation after a meal with no particular rush to get anywhere: sobremesa. It has no direct translation but it literally means “over the table”. Typically part of the sobremesa tradition, the Carajillo has now found a new home in OKC. Good For A Few may be the first bar in the city to feature this drink on their menu, and they’ve added their twist, dubbing it the Charlie Horse with the tagline, “Espresso Martini took the night off!” This drink is a blend of Reposado, Licor 43, Allen’s Coffee Brandy, Banane du Brésil liqueur, Clarks Coffee, and Tres Leches Cold Foam, a must-try for coffee lovers,

A Toast to Remember

Unlike most bars that stay open until the early hours, Good For A Few closes at midnight. This intentional choice creates a space for responsible drinking and meaningful connections. Ideal if you typically avoid rowdy bars. But the magic happens at last call. Thirty minutes before the clock strikes midnight, the manager, Charlie, rings a golden bell, turning off the music and gathering the bar’s attention for a special toast. It’s a moment of celebration, reflection, and gratitude. Guests raise their glasses of Piccino, a shot made with, Braum’s vanilla ice cream, and Allen’s Coffee Brandy creating a memorable end to a night well spent.

So, next time you’re in the Plaza District in Oklahoma City, make sure to stop by and see for yourself why this bar is a favorite among our team at Jordan.
